Terapiye gelme fikri çoğu zaman kolay değildir.
İnsanlar genellikle şunları düşünür:
- “Gerçekten ihtiyacım var mı?”
- “Abartıyor olabilir miyim?”
- “Anlatabilir miyim?”
- “Ya garip hissedersem?”
Bunların hepsi çok normal düşünceler.Terapiye gelen insanların büyük bir kısmı:
- çökmüş
- dibe vurmuş
- çaresiz
olduğu için değil, artık aynı şekilde devam etmek istemediği için gelir.
Terapi:
- akıl verme yeri değildir
- seni değiştirmeye çalışmaz
- “şöyle yapmalısın” diye yönlendirmez
Ama şunu yapar:
Senin neden böyle hissettiğini, neden böyle davrandığını ve bunu nasıl dönüştürebileceğini birlikte anlamanı sağlar.
İlk seans:
- her şeyi anlatmak zorunda olduğun bir yer değildir
- hazır olmadığın hiçbir konuya girilmez
- senin hızın ve sınırların belirleyicidir
Çoğu kişi ilk seanstan sonra şunu söyler:
“Keşke daha önce başlasaydım.”Çünkü terapi, insanın kendini ilk kez gerçekten duyulduğunu hissettiği yer olabilir.
